1. Start with Fresh, Quality Beans
Great coffee starts with fresh beans. Choose high-quality, small-batch roasts—like The Caffeine Cowboy’s Sheriff’s Strong Brew or Snickerin’ Cowboy. Grind your beans just before brewing for maximum flavor.
2. Use the Right Grind Size
For drip coffee makers, a medium grind (about the texture of sand) works best. Too fine, and your coffee can taste bitter; too coarse, and it’ll be weak.
3. Measure Carefully
Use 1–2 tablespoons of coffee per 6 ounces of water. Adjust to taste, but be consistent so you can fine-tune your brew over time.
4. Use Clean, Filtered Water
Since coffee is 98% water, using filtered water makes a noticeable difference. Avoid distilled water—it can leave your coffee tasting flat.
5. Pre-Wet Your Filter
Before adding your coffee grounds, pour a little hot water through the paper filter. This removes any papery taste and warms the brewer.
6. Brew at the Right Temperature
Your drip machine should heat water to 195–205°F (90–96°C). Many newer models do this automatically, but if yours doesn’t, consider upgrading or pre-heating your water.
7. Pour and Enjoy Immediately
Once brewed, don’t let coffee sit on the warming plate too long—it can become bitter. Pour it fresh, breathe in that aroma, and savor every sip.
Tip: Clean your coffee maker monthly to remove buildup and keep your coffee tasting pure.
